Roman Nose: Oklahoma State Parks Collection
Once family hunting grounds, this sacred land with its many flowing springs was a favorite camping spot and family home for Cheyenne Chief Henry Roman Nose. The architects of the CCC respected the hallowed nature of the land Roman Nose loved, embracing the rolling hills and natural springs to create an outdoor wonderland by damming parts of Bitter Creek and building campsites. An Art Deco pool and Mid-Century lodge rounded out the park, creating a respectful place for outdoor recreation.
